From the look of utter dismay on his face, I'm gonna guess 12.
Not too far off. Twelve blerns for guessing twelve.
how about 10 then?
This is a better guess but still incorrect. Ten blerns for guessing ten.
I am very late in adding my guess, so I assume I will be in anti-blern status. It's worth a shot! How about 8?

8 is correct! How could it be anything else? Your answer is worth 90 blerns.
Given the scoring system (one blern for every child in an incorrect guess), I am dismayed that nobody guessed one million or something. Such a guess would certainly have put one if a great position to collect the fabulous prize tht is at stake here.
omigod! I can't believe my luck!! I am so excited! 90 blerns!!! And I thought I was out of the race!!! This is great! I am going to tell the hubstah all about it! Just what is a blern?
Though token economies are always fun, don't be too dismayed at the lack of over-exaggerated guesses. It says more about our faith in the likelihood of your fabulous prize than our inability to discern the scoring scheme.
I will have you know that I have an honourable record of exchanging blerns for prizes. Just ask The North Side Benches.
My previously waning enthusiasm for this contest is curiously re-ignited.
